| The FDU, manufactured by APsi, gives a user
of the Hughes or Ascom Thuraya handsets full docking capabilities.
The handset slides into a spring-loaded holder which can be
physically locked for extra security. The FDU comes with two
external antenna sockets and antennas, one for GPS and one
for signal, which allows the FDU to be installed and used
indoors.
An integrated handset provides voice dialling functionality,
with additional speakerphone, volume control and mute buttons
making the FDU an ideal "office" solution. External
connectivity is provided via RJ-11 and RS-232 sockets allowing
an additional analogue handset, Group 3 fax machine and a
computer system to all be connected at the same time, further
proving suitability for an office environment.
The unit also comes with a wall mount bracket, and the Thuraya
handset (sold seperately) can be easily removed for use portable
